Health Safety and Security Manager (Paper Manufacturing)

Our client, located in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, has an immediate need to fill the position of Health Safety and Security Manager (Paper Manufacturing).

Job Description
Responsible for working with operations, maintenance, staff functions, and Union Leadership to develop initiatives and programs promoting safe work practices and improvements. Lead and facilitate compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
o Provide leadership to support and assist all levels of management in achieving the facility and corporate goals for reduction of work-related injuries. Zero injuries is our goal.
o Assist in planning and implementing programs and processes to maintain a workplace that meets or exceeds federal and state safety requirements.
o Coordinate Emergency Management Oversight including Emergency Responses and FM loss control.
o Location expert in safety and security matters including integration of Health & Safety Best Practices into the mill.
o Ensures a proactive approach to injury prevention.
o Support mill Manufacturing Excellence initiatives.
o Demonstrate Commitment Model leadership behaviors.
o Lead the mills Safety and Security departments.
o Provide oversight with Workers Compensation activities.
o Lead all safety training and ergonomic improvement initiatives.
o Oversee all contractor safety initiatives.
o Direct supervision of Health Services and Safety Advocates.
o Possess ambulatory capabilities to move around the mill, climb ladders, and catwalks.

Education and Experience
o Bachelor's Degree or higher in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
o Proven leadership with 5 years of demonstrated effectiveness in management role in an industrial safety environment.
o Demonstrated leadership in Process Safety Management program improvements.

Competencies
o Effective communication and leadership skills as well as demonstrated abilities to champion change and influence others at all levels of the organization are required.
o Previous experience in a union environment with an excellent safety performance record is highly desired.
o Industrial Hygiene knowledge.
o Ability to give encouragement, guidance, and direction to improve safety performance.
o Ability to listen generously and practice open advocacy.
o Ability to inspire and guide others toward identifying and achieving vision and goals.

To be considered for this position, the candidate must possess these
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's Degree or higher in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.

o Demonstrated leadership in Process Safety Management program improvements.
